Another serving of Ashcroft orientated rock for 2018. There’s all the Ashcroft trademarks to keep existing fans satisfied: passion, commitment, catchy chords and riffs, dreamy tail-offs with string accompaniment. This album has a more chilled out vibe than previous offerings. Many of the tracks are happy-go-lucky drifting into a sweet melancholy. The absolute drama of previous singles such as ‘Check the Meaning’ and ‘Play one for the Lovers’ is missing. In this album a spine of American country rock is clearly palpable. Dire Straits and Tom Petty can be heard whispering.
Richard Ashcroft’s Natural Rebel will be released 19th October 2018.
