READING & LEEDS 2019 – ACTS NOT TO MISS – PART 3

TWENTY ONE PILOTS

Grammy Award-Winning Twenty One Pilots will be bringing their incendiary live show to Reading and Leeds fresh off the back of their worldwide ‘Bandito’ tour and career-defining show’s at London’s Wembley Arena. Having impressed us as one of the weekend highlights when they sub headlined the BBC R1 tent in 2016, jumping up to headline the main stage was no huge surprise. The alternative, electro-rockers have inspired a global movement with their flair for dramatic spectacle and world conquering ambition. The duo, now in their ‘Trench’ album era of their career, have seen fans become super fans and set the bar high for a new generation and definition of pop and rock crossover stars.

COUNTERFEIT.

Punk-rock outfit Counterfeit. are among one of the liveliest bands on the line up this year, and sitting nice and early on the main stage they there’s no better band to wake everyone up and have you rearing to go for another day! Frontman Jamie Campbell Bower’s raw honest vocals built up their brilliant debut release ‘Together We Are Stronger’, and the London lads have been writing and recording their follow up due out very soon. Could we possibly hear some new material debuted at R&L again this weekend?

PVRIS

When we caught PVRIS’ debut R&L set at the Pit stage in 2015 there was an incredible buzz about them after the release of their debut album ‘White Noise’. They packed out the tent with ease as everyone gathered to get a glimpse of one of the newest hyped bands on the planet. Since then PVRIS have rocketed into the stratosphere with their second full length ‘All We Know Of Heaven, All We Need Of Hell’ proving it wasn’t just a one off and that they won’t be disappearing any time soon. They recently released their brand-new track ‘Death Of Me’, and now they have dropped the incredible ‘Hallucinations’ fresh from their upcoming 3^rd album. PVRIS are back with a bang and if their new music is anything to go by, their new album is going to be a game changer for them. Make sure you catch the beginning of a new chapter for PVRIS this weekend at R&L Festival!

THE HUNNA

Much like PVRIS, The Hunna generated a lot of hype when they debuted on the Festival Republic stage in 2016. They burst onto the scene with their debut album ‘100’ which reached #13 in the album charts only 10 months into their career, The Hunna have become one of the most in demand indie bands. The year they have worked themselves up onto the main stage and are sure to pull a huge crowd as they play through some of their stand out songs like ‘Bonfire’ and ‘She’s Casual’, as well as plenty from last year’s album of ‘Dare’ with the fantastic ‘Babe, Can I Call?’.

THE JAPANESE HOUSE

Over the past few years, the mystery that once surrounded The Japanese House has dissolved into a clear artistic vision. With four EPs, put out between 2015 and 2017, Bain had already released an album’s worth of material, honing the sound and feel of her intricate indie pop dreamscapes, but it has taken her until now to make her debut album. Partly, that’s because she has spent much of the last three years on the road, touring with Dirty Hit labelmates The 1975 and Wolf Alice, among others. Partly, it’s because she wanted to start with a clean slate. “Also, I’m really bad at finishing things, because my attention span is so bad. It takes me ages to commit to something.”

AGAINST THE CURRENT

New York’s trio of Chrissy Costanza (Vocals) Dan Gow (guitar) and Will Ferri (Drums) build up the brilliant pop rock outfit Against The Current. No strangers to Reading & Leeds Festival ATC have already shown they can hold themselves on the monstrous main stage and they return this year to take it one once again. This time they have the success of their second full length ‘Past Lives’ under their belt which has produced some catchy singles such as ‘Voices’ and ‘Almost Forgot’ to add to their fantastic live set of feel good sing along pop rock.

MABEL

Having burst onto the scene in 2015 with her release of ‘Know Me Better’ Mabel put the wheels in motion to become a fresh and exciting name amongst a brand new generation of r’n’b chanteuses. At a modest 22 years old, she has an instinctive gift of melody far beyond her age. As Mabel dominates the album charts with the lives of ‘Don’t Call Me Up’ and Mad Love’ she is on the rise to become one of the hottest r’n’b acts of the year.

POST MALONE

Last year Post Malone stole the weekend as he pulled one of the biggest main stage crowds we’ve seen for a long time, especially for a non-headlining act. His 2018 sophomore album ‘Beerbongs & Bentleys’ achieved one of the years “biggest streaming weeks ever” before cementing a place at the top of the album charts. Deservedly so Post Malone co headlines with Twenty-One Pilots this year on the main stage to a sold out crowd at both Reading & Leeds Festival.
