IICSA wants a national campaign to teach adults about what they can do when they are concerned a child who is being sexually abused

But what can adults actually do?

Report their concerns to Social Services, who can be extremely difficult to get hold of?

And Social Services often won’t do anything unless it’s very clear something is happening and there is very strong evidence.

And so will this campaign really make any difference? Will more children be protected? Or will it result in Social Services logging more calls, which they essentially park and do nothing about?

In other words will the campaign end up being a tokenistic gesture, by a society that doesn’t want to invest in improving and increasing the capacity and capability of its social services for managing and dealing with sexual abuse?
