Fågelle – ‘Bränn min jord’ – “delicious madness”

SELF RELEASE                  27th February 2026

Fagelle is a Swedish artist but at times I hear the delicious madness of Icelandic Bjork in the vocal tones and in the broken tumbling beats. Created in the quiet forests of southern Sweden, the lack of a common language with this English listener means my ears are free to listen to the sound and intonation. A personal and intimate sounding set of lyrics work within busy electronics and multi-tracked overdubs to make a tumbling and intoxicating rushing sound.

It’s an album of different approaches, yet thematically cohesive with organic textures blending with electronics and industrial crunches. There are footsteps, screaming, singing, breakbeats; yet a brass band plays us out with a gentle lullaby. Guitar and drums are present but not in a rock sense – drums are thumps and impacts, guitars are a distorted texture. One track can be an intimate confession, the next a screaming declamation. Instrumentation can be a broken, rushing electronic shambles or a deep tribal crunch. Fagelle has created something that smells like a folkloric evocation of the deep wild at the same time as a heart outpouring at the same time as an artistic wall-hanging of sound.

Fascinating.
