Anyone else worn out their vinyl copies of Waxahatchee’s phenomenal ‘Ivy Tripp’ album? Well, you can’t wear out mp3 files….can you? Maybe, someone out there has it on cassette or minidisc. If that’s your bag, fair do’s. Whatever format, Katie Crutchfield’s latest will be up there when the ‘Best of 2015’ lists start clogging up the internet by the end of the year. In the meantime, check out 3rd single from the album, ‘The Dirt’, ahead of it’s release in October. Like much of the album, ‘The Dirt’ is an almost-sweet grungey guitar song that conceals some venomous lyrics. The quiver and burring of Crutchfield’s commanding vocals completes the package. Check it out then go get ‘Ivy Tripp’, then find all her other releases.
Katie Crutchfield will be taking her Waxahatchee outfit to the UK in October for a special show celebrating her label Wichita Recording‘s 15th Birthday. That will take place at Islington Assembly Hall, London on October 29th. But that’s not all. Waxahatchee will be supporting Kurt Vile on his UK and Europe tour in support of his upcoming album. Be sure to check out that great line up if it comes to your town. Or even if it comes to a town a few miles away. Get a bus or something. Just don’t miss it.
