The poignant video for Tom Chaplin’s new single ‘Midnight Mass’ explores loneliness and isolation during the festive season. It stars Dudley Sutton, an actor from Lovejoy, one of Chaplin’s favourite ’90s TV shows. Midnight Mass is taken from Chaplin’s new album, Twelve Tales of Christmas, which explores the mixed emotions that the festive season conjures for many people.
Tom says of the video: “As far as quirky festive videos go, this one is right up there. It’s based on a true story of an old guy who ran a London dog club. He died shortly before Christmas without any close family and friends around him but a memorial was held and attended entirely by the owners of the dogs from his club … and, of course, their faithful friends.”
The video for ‘Midnight Mass’ is especially timely, given Age UK’s current campaign to raise awareness of loneliness among the elderly at Christmas.
