Having recently released their self-titled LP which gave the band its strongest chart debut ever, Palisades will be heading to Reading & Leeds Festival with their alternative rock to take on The Pit stage nice and early to get you ready for a day of madness! We caught up with the frontman of the New Jersey rockers, Louis Miceli, ahead of the festival to chat all things R&L, their self titled album, and touring the world…
Hi Louis! How has 2017 been so far for you?
So far 2017 has been incredible! With he release of our newest album and the slew of amazing tours we’ve been apart of, it’s been an awesome year that’s for sure.
You’ve just played a few shows with Set It Off, how has that been?
We’ve known Set It Off for a very long time now so it’s always great to be hitting the road with friends that you love. We’re both on tour with One Ok Rock who have been nothing short of great to us. The best part is playing to so many new fans and being able to connect with them through our music.
You recently released your self-titled album, which gave you a strong chart debut following a great response. How did the creation process of your self-titled album differ to your previous releases?
When we started writing this album we went in with mindset that we wanted to write the most personal and emotional album that we could. This album was really more of a journey of self discovery not only for our music but for us as people. I feel like you can really hear that in the record. Everything that we wrote lyrically came from pushing ourselves to be completely vulnerable and we made the music to reflect that. It was truly such an amazing experience.
Your video for ‘Let Down’ now has over 1 Million views which is incredible! What has it been like having such overwhelming support from your fans?
The amount of love and support we have from our fan base is unreal. We’ve had fans from the very beginning who have stuck by us through thick and thin and also so many new fans who have joined our family that it’s overwhelming. To us the fans are everything. We make music so we can help you get through your day and take a piece of us with you at all times. When we wrote “Let Down” it came from such a painful spot but the fact that we turned that pain into an energy that our fans can relate to, that’s what makes it all worth it.
What are your favourite songs to play live from your new album and why?
Personally I really love playing Dark and Memories and Fall, those songs make you just feel something and it’s like a personal therapy session for us to get all of that out on stage with our fans. Through Hell and Better Chemicals are also awesome because they just slam and are so in your face. Let Down is definitely the loudest one live and that’s always great when you hear everyone singing back to you.
Reading & Leeds festival is approaching rather quickly, what does it mean to you to be a part of such an iconic UK festival?
We grew up always wanting to play these festivals. We always saw so many legendary bands play those stages and are so excited to be apart of that now.
What can we expect from your set, any surprises?
We’re going to be focusing on bringing the emotion you feel while listening to our album to the stage. We can’t wait for everyone to be apart.
Who are you guys looking forward to catching over the R&L weekend?
I’m really excited to see Jimmy Eat World, Tory Lanez, You Me At Six, Eminem, Migos, Pvris, One Ok Rock, Korn, Major Lazer, and Halsey.
If you could pick three headliners for the ultimate Reading & Leeds Festival line up [excluding yourselves!]who would they be and why?
I think it would be awesome to have Drake, Brand New and I would’ve loved to have seen Linkin Park. Rest In Peace Chester.
Finally, what are your plans for the end of 2017?
We’re going to be playing a bunch of awesome Festivals such as Houston Open Air and Louder Than Life in the states and are going to be hitting the road once again in the fall!
