Brian is a Irish Singer/Songwriter based in London who has been gigging and crafting his trade over the last 6 years. “Reach” is Brian’s debut release, and it will definitely lay a solid foundation for future releases.
The song starts with a rhythmic, staccato style fingerpicking reminiscent of Colin Hay (Men At Work). Brian’s warm vocals carefully caress you into the song. The story seems to be of the usual conversation in a pop love song, exploring the terrain of new relationships. Then comes the witty and tongue in cheek lyrics that really make Brian standout as a songwriter.
On the surface this song is a nice acoustic pop song, but within the well crafted lyrics are mature themes told from a youthful enthusiasm. Something that unfortunately is a rarity in modern music. At its climax the song takes off with heartwarming harmonies accompanied by a You Can Call Me Al-esque guitar sound. This really is a melodic joy that will brighten your day and have you singing a long. It’s already been added to my 2019 playlist!
