Ready for some summer chill-out? If the sun’s rays were beaming through, this would soundtrack the long, warm twilight hours. As it is, it’s nicely relaxed modern electronica, marrying the tropes of clubland to more relaxed beats and a more relaxed mood.

The assemblage of cuts and effects is quite breathtaking and the mix of styles is large, perhaps too large. The mood shifts from drone to trippy break-beat to sunny club pop and leaves me wanting something a bit more consistent (and mainstream pop lyrics aren’t usually my thing either). The shifts continue, sometimes up into something dancey, sometimes sideways into a song, sometimes back to a chilled groove.

I’m left in no doubt of the craftsmanship and creativity, in awe of the smoothness but, unless your ears are attuned to current electronic club music, you may experience the shifts in genre and style as interfering with the overall summer chill vibe of the set. In many ways it sounds like a compilation of artists who all share one producer than a unified album by one guiding hand.
