Isn’t that the most Scouse name you’ve ever heard? After neglecting the standard musical influences offered by his hometown city when growing up; Neville Skelly has previously made his name as a big band jazz/swing crooner regularly playing working men’s clubs and cruise ships. But after becoming pals with fellow Liverpudlians The Coral and Ian Broudie of The Lightning Seeds he has now reinvented himself as a wistful world-weary troubadour.

The title track perfectly showcases his deep, baritone croon. Tracks like ‘Brambles & Heather’ and ‘Colours Collide’ glide along on languid pedal steel and lilting acoustic melodies which accompany Skelly’s soft, yet deep and dreamy vocals.

Most of the five tracks on this EP are culled from forthcoming album ‘Poet and The Dreamer’ which on this evidence may well be worth closer inspection when released.
