Hagana
HAGANA EP
OUT NOW

The first thing Hagana need to do is ditch their promotion company. The press release is truly awful to the point it sours your opinion of the EP even before its had time to hit your ear drums.

A little harsh you think, exhibits for the prosecution milord!

1.“There are only nine better ways to spend 17 minutes than listening to this EP and most of them are illegal or imaginary, it’s really quite good”
(Picking my nose springs to mind)

2.“Despite a strong live following and regular airplay on local and national airplay, the band remains somewhat unknown”
(Translated as no one liked them)

3.“....They are perfectly positioned to become your new favourite band’
(I call that bull talk from a one-eyed fat man!)

So onto the EP, I’ve listened to it a number of times now and I still can’t get past that damn press release.

The Hagana sound follows today’s trend for the lighter indie style cutting across the airwaves with tracks like ‘She Said’ that show a definitely talent with catchy lyrics and hypnotic riffs especially on ‘Act Like A Shadow’ and it’s these first two tracks that really stand out.

The remaining tracks on the EP are a more mellow affair concluding with ‘Stuck’, a collaboration with Chloe Amber, a R’n’B/house singer apparently.

The music is there for all to see on the EP and I would hope that the band put the same effort into promoting themselves they should do well. They say that first impressions last and to Hagana credit, they have changes my initial dim opinion of the album but it was a long and unnecessary road to redemption.
