Everything We Left Behind
PULL BACK AND GO EWLB 15.3.10 @www.vanguard-online.co.uk
If Google is to be believed, ‘Everything We Left Behind’ are next best thing, enter the band’s name and you get a hit count of over 74 million, ok, this is slightly skewed by the name but numerous gig, album reviews and links shows that this no-nonsense hi-energy punk rockers have an extensive list of admirers. ‘Pull Back And Go’ is basic in its delivery but therein lays its strength, with its high speed riffs and rhythmic melodies allowing ‘Everything We Left Behind’ to excel in the anarchic sound that put Blink 182 and Sum 41 on the map. The majority of the tracks on the album never exceed 3 minutes paying homage to the obvious punk roots kicking off with ‘Big Thanks To The Sun’ and the album doesn’t let up through the subsequent tracks, reaching a crescendo on the 45 seconds of ‘No Friend Of Mine’. The originally entitled ‘Untitled’ is the only track over 4 minutes and gives the impression that the band were trying a little too hard, this is a shame, because the remaining tracks have a more relaxed attitude albeit still at break neck speed. At times, the album is a little too chaotic and its over before you know it and sometimes the components of the band seem out of phase with each other. Having said that it’s a credible debut release that doesn’t try too hard and delivers punk-rock like no one I’ve heard recently. The groundswell of followers the band appear to have amassed through constant touring puts them in good stead for the future if this is a sign of things to come. www.myspace.com/everythingweleftbehind |
