In the spirit of this album I will be brutally honest, I don’t like hardcore or as some have referred to it as ‘Screamo’ and this album is truly brutal.

Then you see photos and the age of the band and there lies my problem. As the speed of my demise into old gitness accelerates daily, I’ve forgotten that feeling of taking on the world, wearing my feelings on my sleeve and the misguided belief that I can make a difference.

So, from this prospective, ‘The Land, the Ocean, The Distance’ is an expression of the frustration and anger at a less than sympathetic society. The tracks on the E.P are expertly crafted with heavy crunching riffs but it’s the vocals which rip through you like an grizzly bear with a handover. On further listens, this isn’t noise for noise sake but the band has taken time to craft their abilities to deliver a complete sound but with nothing to compare too I cannot really express an opinion apart from I bet they deliver a truly awesome live set if this recording is anything to go my.

The EP has three tracks Empires, Paint the Sky and Worlds Apart with the 2nd track being the stronger of the three and it is worth noting that the EP is available as a free download from the bands Myspace account.

In the Early eighties, I had Rage Against the Machines and Testament to understand my feeling of being out if phase with the world, today it’s bands like Height that fill that role and, if anything all I have learnt from listening to this is that I am both well past understanding or caring.

Put me back in my easy chair it’s time for my nap!
