Naughty Boys
DESTINY CALLS MUSICBYMAIL.COM Out Now @www.vanguard-online.co.uk
I’ve been to engrossed in melodramatic music of late, listening to grandiose symphonic metal to the point where I have become a prisoner in paradise of my own making but my savours have appeared in the form of the Naughty Boys (Be very careful how you Google them!!). ‘Destiny Calls’ is classic rock at its finest, the almost exact opposite of what I’ve been subjecting my ears to recently but still ultimately enjoyable none the less. I want to compare them to Dokken but this is doing the big haired rockers of the eighties a favour, maybe it’s that the Naughty Boys sound like how I always wanted Dokken to sound but never achieved. There’s a real cohesion of vocals, guitars riffs and bass line to the album and tracks like ‘Destiny Calls’, ‘Walk Away’ and the best track off the album ‘Endless Pain’ deliver a truly powerful sound that wouldn’t sound out of place alongside the likes of The Answer or Shinedown. Melodies aren’t forgotten either on ‘Light Of The Day’ and the addition of keyboards on the ballad ‘Eternity’ show a depth to the bands talent that should stand them well in the future. What the Naughty Boys need now (apart from a serious think about the band’s name) is some decent support slots for some major acts to increase their exposure because I’m convinced that they will be a crowd pleaser and may even show up the headliners. I may return to my audible Gothic prison of doom and gloom but it will be safe in the knowledge that there is always rock salvation in the form of the Naughty Boys. I get the impression that this album will have a long and fruitful life on my MP3 player. www.naughtyboys.se |
