Le Reno Amps TEAR IT OPEN DRIFT RECORDS 23.3.09 @www.vanguard-online.co.uk Le Reno Amps present their new album ‘Tear It Open’, which is supported by the Scottish Arts Council. This is their second album after their 2007 effort ‘So For Your Thrills…’ The latest single off the album is the track ‘Outlaw.’ Which details the lead singer, Scott Maple’s battle to salvage his relationship. As his girlfriends parents try to sabotage it. The track is packed full of riffs and ‘shouty’ vocals which are two sure fire ways to make it in the Indie scene of late. ‘You Do Your Thing’, is properly the catchiest song on the album and seems to almost harp back to old nineties guitar bands. It has ‘next single’ written all over it, as I can imagine all the ‘Indie kids’ singing it at the tops of their voices on a night out. The last track on the album ‘The Gilded Road’ rounds off the album well with loud no-holds-barred guitar riffs and a chorus of sing-a-longs from the whole band. The album as a whole is well produced and has a great sing-a-long appeal. But I get the feeling that there is something missing. However it may be the fact this kind of music doesn’t appeal to me so maybe you should give this band a listen and make up your own mind.
