Alexisonfire’s Dallas Green played a very intimate gig for his fans recently at the famous Brudenell Social Club, under the name City and Colour. The first band on were very forgettable, they were playing as people were arriving. They consisted of some of the City and Colours backing band. After a short break Dallas took to the stage. Green’s mix of acoustic folk is extremely rousing and you can tell he is really singing from the heart. He strikes up a good rapport with the crowd; one guy even faints at one point! Surprisingly, even though this date was sold out months ago, you can actually move. Which is great as it gave me the chance to really enjoy the music. After a few of his own tracks, he song Alexisonfire’s ‘Boiled Frogs.’ The crowd really got into this and people were singing along all around me. After a few more acoustic numbers he went off for his ‘encore’ and when he returned explained to the crowd how stupid he feels pretending to leave only to come back 30 seconds later. He ended the night with the popular track ‘Coming Home.’ His voice rang through the silence of the crowd as they stood watching him in awe. One thing’s for sure City and Colour are going to pick up a lot more fans along the way and keep all the loyal ones they already have.
