Being a Libertines fan, I detest nothing more in the whole world than a bunch of drunken idiots warbling through What A Waster whilst dreaming about being the rock star, which they are never going to meet.

The refreshing thing about these Stoke lads is their attitude and style. The songs wrote by their own fair hands had a raw edge to them, the guitarist entertained the crowd by playing snippets of In The Hall Of The Mountain King, whilst the drummer had to replace his pedal. Considering I was watching a newly signed band, there was something extremely professional about them.

Their songs sounded complete and well organised, they had the charm of a fox, yet the naivety many bands quickly lose when up on stage. The moment the chords started to The Libertines classic What A Waster, I smiled, because I realised I hadn’t felt this excited about a new band in a long time. I’m pretty certain that un-like Doherty, these guys might have the stamina to ride the wave of appreciation that this kind of talent demands.
